Course Descriptions
Dr. Walters: The evolution of orthobiologics has been driven by the ever aging population of active patients who seek alternative treatments that can preserve their joints while returning them to the highest level of function. In this presentation, participants can expect to learn how Dr. Walters has incorporated this new and exciting technology in his approach to the management of complex shoulder injuries.
Dr. Overman: Dr. Overman’s presentation will provide an overview on common hand and upper extremity sports injuries seen in individuals of all ages - from youth athletes to adult weekend warriors. Her topic will address patient presentation, imaging, and management.
Dr. Russ: Dr. Russ will discuss X-ray imaging of the foot and ankle, including normal parameters and general principles. Participants can expect to learn about common sports injuries to the foot and ankle, general conservative treatment, and when referral to orthopedics is necessary.
Dr. Williams: Participants will learn about the non-operative approach to musculoskeletal medicine, from a biomechanical view, and how the proficient use of sideline, exam room and bedside ultrasound can add immediate benefit in both diagnosis and treatment.
Dr. Michelle Mick: Diagnostic Imaging Case Studies of Sports-Related Injuries over the Sports Seasons.
Course Description: This will be a case-based presentation of sports injuries seen over the sports seasons. The emphasis will be on the diagnostic imaging work-up and findings, but will include discussion of clinical/patient management considerations, such as next-steps and possible further imaging.
Dr. Tim Mick: Diagnostic Imaging Case Studies of Sports-Related Injuries of the Spine, Sacrum and Coccyx
Course Description: This will be a case-based presentation of a wide variety of sports injuries, include stress-related injuries of the spine, sacrum and coccyx. The emphasis will be on the diagnostic imaging work-up and findings, but will include discussion of clinical/patient management considerations, such as next-steps and possible further imaging.

Dr. Walters is a respected sports medicine surgeon in the Twin Cities area. Dr. Walters is adept at caring for athletes of all ages and levels, and his practice spans sports medicine, arthroplasty, innovative approaches including biologics, and other techniques. He has extensive experience with complex shoulder surgery as well as total knee replacement.
Dr. Overman joined Summit Orthopedics in December of 2023. Dr. Overman specializes in the evaluation and treatment of all conditions related to the fingers, hand, wrist, forearm, elbow, and upper arm. This includes sports-related injuries, work-related injuries, degenerative and rheumatoid arthritis conditions, nerve compression syndromes, and traumatic reconstruction.
Dr. Samuel Russ is a foot and ankle orthopedic surgeon dedicated to helping people maintain and restore their mobility. Dr. Russ takes a conservative, nonoperative approach when he begins working with patients.
Dr. Williams is a physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) physician specializing in nonoperative sports, musculoskeletal, and diagnostic and interventional ultrasound medicine at Summit Orthopedics.
