All braces are not the same. Spinal braces come in many shapes and sizes. It is important to differentiate the different types of braces based on their design and their purpose. The reimbursement coding adds to the confusion as spinal braces with the same reimbursement code can be very different in form and function. We will demonstrate that there is a significant difference in the form and function of spinal bracing and that there are 3 specific design characteristics that are important.

Upon successful completion of this program, you will:

  1. Understand the myths and misconceptions regarding spinal bracing and the lack of clinical evidence supporting these misconceptions.
  2. Understand the benefits of bracing for enhancing trunk stability and the clinical evidence that supports these concepts.
  3. Understand the benefits of bracing as an adjunct to current treatment options.
  4. Understand the benefits of bracing as a non-invasive, non-pharmacologic treatment option.
