Dr. Hammer energizes his audiences with a wry sense of humor and personal experiences from more than 50 years. Although his lectures are steeped in evidence-based information, he shares his personal experiences with soft tissue and articular situations that he states, “science has not caught up with yet.”

Dr. Hammer has practiced in Norwalk, Connecticut for more than 50 years, studying numerous soft-tissue methods and applying them to the practice of chiropractic. 

Dr. Hammer lectures nationally and internationally, and he recently completed his third edition of Functional Soft-Tissue Examination and Treatment by Manual Methods. 

In addition to writing a regular column for Dynamic Chiropractic, he has written more than 300 articles for prominent journals such as Dynamic Chiropractic, Chiropractic Sports Medicine, the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics, Chiropractic Technique and the Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies. 

Five years ago Dr. Hammer became certified in the use of Fascial Manipulation© after spending two weeks in Italy under the tutelage of Luigi Stecco, PT. Fascial Manipulation has been taught in Europe for the past seventeen years and in 40 countries last year. As of 2013, he has been a certified instructor and introduced this treatment method with Antonio Stecco, M.D., into the U.S. 

Dr. Hammer is the English editor for the text: “Functional Atlas of the Human Fascial System” by Carla Stecco MD, PhD. He is also an editor for a recent text “A Practical Guide to Fascial Manipulation, An Evidence and Clinical-Based Approach.”
