Description

Mr. Wulff's presentation will focus on legal and ethical issues involving fee collection techniques. He will explain the legal and ethical obligations to submit charges to the responsible insurer; what to do when payment is discontinued by workers' compensation and no-fault insurers; when and how licensees can pursue collection against patients; and the new prohibitions and penalities that can apply in workers' compensation claims set forth in Minn. Statue 176.126, subd. 2a. His presentation will include a discussion of the prohibitions under the federal and state antikickback and fee-splitting laws.

In this webinar, attendees will learn:

  1. How to ensure that licensees are submitting their charges to the responsible insurer in a variety of scenarios.
  2. How not to violate the new prohibition against pursuing collection against workers' compensation patients and the consequences if a violation occurs.
  3. How to avoid engaging in threatening, dishonest, or misleading fee collection techniques.
  4. How to avoid violating the antikickback and fee splitting statues.
