Description

This seminar will offer information regarding intense mental health symptoms and diagnoses that can pose difficulty in providing treatment to patients. It will describe various effective ways of de-escalating situations when mental health symptoms might be getting in the way of effective communication. There will be time for discussion and ideas given for real-life examples in order to walk away with action ideas.

  • Understand basics of how mental health symptoms for some common diagnoses can impact interpersonal communication
  • Learn simple mental health first aid interventions
  • Learn effective de-escalation techniques for difficult situation

Amber Morrighan, MA, LMFT, has been practicing mental health therapy with children, adolescents, adults and families for nearly 20 years. During this time she has worked in residential treatment centers and outpatient clinic settings as both therapist, clinical supervisor and also administrator. She has specialty in working with individuals impacted by trauma and also focuses on individuals impacted by adoption and foster care. She brings humor, relationship and sincerity to be helpful to all aspects of her work.
