Dr. Maya Meinhold Shelton, DC earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science with an Equine Emphasis from the University of Wisconsin – River Falls. She attended Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, MN for her chiropractic education and graduated with honors in 2015. Immediately after graduation from NWHSU, Dr. Maya attended and completed the 5-week intensive program at Options for Animals College of Animal Chiropractic in Wellsville, KS. Dr. Maya is certified in animal chiropractic through the International Veterinary Chiropractic Association (IVCA) and is licensed in both MN and WI to practice animal chiropractic. Dr. Maya is also certified in Equine Myofascial Release Therapy through the John F. Barnes equine course. She has served on an advisory committee for the WI State Veterinary Board regarding complementary and alternative therapies for animals and helped implement new changes to the veterinary statutes to help promote animal chiropractic care. Dr. Maya co-owns and operates Animal Connections Integrative Care within the Twin Cities area with a focus on equine patients. Dr. Maya is also the co-creator of the Equine Postural Balancing Technique that is taught in a tiered CE course offered to DVMs and DCs to help improve their equine adjusting skills.
