This training will provide an in-depth look at concussions. We will discuss the tools and resources that are currently available for providers to use for evaluation and management of acute and chronic concussions. We will also have a hands on portion that will give you live scenarios of concussions that will prepare you to evaluate and manage concussions whether you are on the field or in your office helping a patient return to activity. This presentation will include a multi-disciplinary approach to managing concussions and will include Athletic Trainers and other specialty providers giving you their perspective on working with concussed individuals. We will end the presentation with case studies and real life examples of people who have been dealing with concussions.
Learn about the basics of the 10 questions used in acupuncture to find out the patterns of our patients. Make your treatments more personalized, get better results, and speak knowledgeably about systemic issues that can be helped with acupuncture. Information on tongue, pulse, and basic systemic patterns will also be discussed.
The purpose of this course is to provide the participant with an overview of the principles of radial pressure wave therapy and implication to clinical practice. The lecture format will introduce the participants to biomechanical and physiological effects of radial pressure wave therapy. Participants will review treatment indications.
This session will help participants understand the definition and diagnostic criteria of each concussion subtype, understand common tests and measures used in the assessment of the concussion subtypes, and understand common treatments used with each concussion subtype. It will also show participants how to Identify patients that need referral to neurology, ophthalmology, and other providers to further address symptoms.
The MCA Sports Council believes all chiropractors must be well versed in the best clinical management of concussions, whether you work with athletes or not. This summit will provide you the tools and knowledge to start helping your patients immediately. This training will encompass concussion assessment and management from the sports chiropractic, chiropractic neurology, athletic training, physical therapy, and sports psychology perspectives. Participants will be guided through the evaluation and management considerations of treating patients on the sideline and in the clinical setting. We will conclude with case studies that will bring all the information together in a patient presentation that discusses return-to-learn and return-to-play considerations.
